Lukla Airport is located in Nepal, 130 kilometers from Kathmandu. The route of the plane taking off from here ends abruptly, with … a chasm 600 meters deep. The runway is only 460 meters long, so only small planes and helicopters can take off and land here.
The airport offers daily flights from and to Kathmandu. However, they take place only during the day and only under appropriate weather conditions. The airport is also called Tenzing-Hilary Airport, in honor of the first climbers to reach the peak of Mount Everest.
